FOOD BANK COIN CAMPAIGN
As you probably are aware, the Sunday Youth Group and the Outreach Committee are joining forces to raise cash for the food bank. Summer months see the shelves very empty, and we now know that for every $1 donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank, $7 dollars of food can be purchased. Daily Bread then helps supply the local food banks.
The Sunday Youth Group have distributed containers, asking you to collect your spare change, which will be handed in at the end of May. Recently the very last penny was produced at the Canadian Mint, and they will now be permanently removed from circulation. Our Federal Finance Minister suggested that all Canadians donate their saved pennies to charity, and we agree! We are suggesting you haul out your old penny jars and add them to your food “coin” bank. They do not need to be rolled.
The Sunday Youth Group is supporting the food bank by selling homemade muffins on the last Sunday in May, and they will be available for us to purchase and enjoy with our coffee that morning. We hope you will be there to support them.
As always non perishable food items are welcome. For the month of May, we are suggesting Mayonnaise, Miracle Whip, rice, beans and lentils. And of course, small denomination grocery gift cards are always welcome.
Thank You from your Outreach Committee and the Sunday Youth Group.
